How Dry Salt Therapy works

Firstly, we build an insulated chamber with a special dry air-conditioning system which creates a low humidity environment. This high-tech air purifying and refreshing system provides a dirt, allergan and germ free air with constant extraction. The air parameters are continuously monitored in order to maintain a stable temperature level and very low humidity. Secondly, there is a state-of-the-art computer-controlled air driven SaltPro 3 machine manufactured to medical standards in Holland, which produces the dry salt crystals suitable for inhalation.

Why is Dry Salt Climatherapy different?

Controlling and managing humidity levels is very important, with constant air exchange and constant dry salt crystals. Our rooms are always well below 30% relative humidity (typical Irish humidity levels are between 70 & 90%). The dryer the salt particles are, the higher the hydroscopic effect is inside the airways which is one of the important mechanisms. During your 60 minute session you will breathe in and out normally between 600 and 1000 times. With every inhalation you breathe in the microscopic dry salt particles in to your airways. They will reach the most hidden part of your sinuses and the remotest small bronchial tube in your lungs (alveoli). Therefore it’s healing effect will benefit the whole respiratory system.
Climatherapy is a therapy which is based on a number of repeated sessions within a controlled environment. Depending on the respiratory discomfort you experience, the number of sessions and the length of the therapy can vary. Microscopic dry salt crystals regulate inflammatory processes and result in long lasting improvement. Dry Salt therapy is a 100% natural, drug free treatment which is completely safe and suitable for children of any age (as young as one month old). Children respond to the therapy very quickly. Did you know that only 20-25% of the drug in Inhalers travel to the lower airways and 70-75% of the medication deposits in your throat and your mouth. Dry Salt Therapy is the only treatment that will treat the whole respiratory system.

How Dry Salt Therapy helps patients with COPD…

Inhalation of dry salt crystals is clinically proven to cleanse the respiratory system of the human body and to speed up the elimination of toxins. The size of the particles is the same as in natural salt caves. These so called breathable particles penetrate into the bronchial tree in the form of finest crystals. Dry salt crystals work as a bronchial brush for the airways.

Dry salt crystals prove to have bactericidal effects, cleansing microbial flora of the respiratory tract, slowing down bacterial growth and increasing resistance to respiratory tract diseases. Dry salt crystals are a well known decongestant, they reduce inflammation widening of the airway passages, restoring the normal transport of mucous secretion and free the blockages in the bronchi and bronchioles leading to rapid elimination of the residual tar and foreign allergens. It also has a hyposensitizing effect: the body becomes less sensitive to a substance producing an allergic reaction: it’s reducing lgE levels in the body. lgE is the antibody involved in allergic reactions.

Dry Salt crystals eliminate airborne pollen particles from the airways. The air composition strengthens immunity and better immunity decreases allergic reaction to pollens and other allergens. The treatment’s efficacy is estimated at 75-98%.

Dry Salt Climatherapy is 100% natural, safe and drug-free, providing effective long-term relief. I t can be used as a complimentary treatment to prescribed medications or as a sole treatment. When Dry Salt therapy is is used as a complimentary treatment, it can increase the effectiveness of prescribed medications and decrease the amount of prescribed medication.

To understand why climatherapy is unique have a look at this picture. In red you can see the bronchial tree which leads the air to the lung tissue. Asthma and bronchitis are diseases inside this branching, bronchial tube system. When gently inhaling dry salt air over a longer period of time (60minutes) , sufficient salt particles will penetrate the entire airway system.

The advantage of this inhalation method opposed to using inhalers is that there is no forced breathing needed, during the session to receive particles inside the airways.

A disadvantage of forced inhalations is that a large quanity of particles inhaled are deposited in the throat and do not penetrate as deep as when inhaling gently.
